Dead Man Rumbling
Something big happened last night. Something fucking huge in fact. I know a lot of you probably think I'm referring to Clemson beating Alabama by throwing a touchdown with seconds left. If you’re one of those people please go to your closet, find your nicest button down and pants, put them on, check yourself out in the mirror, get in your car, pull out of your driveway and then slam on the gas and drive directly through your front door. In the most badass way possible, The Undertaker returned by simply stating “I’m Back.” That’s right folks he’s back. And not only is he back, he has officially entered the Royal Rumble. What does this mean? Let's find out.
This is absolutely great for the WWE. For the last few years it has been very easy to predict who was going to win the Royal Rumble, or at least who should have in the case of Daniel Bryan. This year, however, the door was wide open before the Undertaker entered the fray. Now? Holy shit, I don’t even know what is going to happen. My gut tells me ‘Taker is going to win the Rumble after Cena beats AJ Styles setting up a huge dream match for the WWE championship at ‘Mania. But why don’t we take a look at other legitimate possibilities. WWE has been pushing Braun Stroman to the moon ever since the brand split. Seeing as Roman Reigns will most likely take the belt from Kevin Owens, this is a fresh matchup that would be good for both men. WWE also hinted at a Goldberg/Reigns match two weeks ago on Raw, and boy would that be something.
After getting his ass handed to him at Survivor Series, Brock Lesnar’s destructive aura took a serious hit. What better way to fix that than having him win the Rumble and going on to fight for the Universal championship? Now I know another Lesnar/Goldberg match is on the horizon. WWE has thrown curveballs before and I can absolutely see one of these two winning.
Now back to the Dead Man. Let's say he wins. Either AJ or Cena can win the title and go on to fight this man. Either would be an unbelievable match. Cena/Taker would deliver in star power alone, and Taker/Styles would be, dare I say, phenomenal due to Aj’s ability to carry a broom to a great match. Ratings have been struggling lately and what better way to help that than adding taker to the road to WrestleMania a bit earlier this year.
Undertaker being back is a great thing for the WWE. He has opened up the door for a bunch of storylines to unfold. And besides, if nothing else, it’s always great to have this legend back on television.
