Information is in Crisis: Fake News and the Mainstream Media
The phenomenon of fake news is a direct attack on verifiable information. This phenomenon is subverting the real news, in so much as fake news is being passed along as news while it is in fact hateful propaganda. This is blurring the lines between real news and propaganda, propaganda is being passed off as information, and in turn real information is turning into propaganda. Fake news needs to be discredited and news organizations need to be held accountable in discerning real news from propaganda. When you put propaganda, under the guise of fake news, beside real news on a major news website the real news is on an equal platform to fake news, then the perception shifts, and actual news is seen as propaganda as well. This then subjects real news and information to being discredited by propaganda representing the opposition to facts. The value of real information is being put in a position of crisis. It is being robbed of its real verifiable meaning, being distorted and diminished by major news organizations inability to discern fake news from propaganda. This is where the crisis spurs and can only be solved by calling fake news for what it is – propaganda.
An article of ultra conservative fake news recently targeted CNN, mocking their trans sympathies by pointing out how they “accidentally” played trans porn over a program in Boston. There trans sympathies are being mocked and then leveled with by their own conservative transphobic attitudes, which is highlighted by the pun in the program that was supposed to be playing, “Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown”. A crude joke which points out how weird trans people and their porn are, which this propaganda supposes those at CNN indulge in due to their sympathetic attitudes towards the trans community. This propaganda supposes CNN has exposed itself as the incompetent and trans sympathetic news organization that it is. This is HATEFUL propaganda. Yet, when news organizations picked up this fake story, incapable of recognizing it as propaganda but just fake news, they were at liberty to irresponsibly cheery pick information as long as they pointed out that this may not be true, all for the sake of satisfying their own click bait desires. Finding humor, and clicks, in the fact that “porn” (now no longer being described as what it originally was, “trans porn”) was played on Thanksgiving – how outrageous how funny. In other words, “Porn?!?! On Thanksgiving!?!?! How outrageous. C’mon CNN. And in front of my Grandmother, Christ.!”. While in actuality the humor in the piece is rooted at discrediting CNN at the expense of the trans community. This hateful propaganda becomes morphed into funny small town news, while the audience unbeknownst to them, consumes this as something different than its original intent. This propaganda then becomes propelled into the mainstream, creating space for latent hate and vitriol in the media. More so, this propaganda then sits alongside pieces that contain actual information, both being published for the same purpose, to inform the audience, but fake news offers content that consists only of a political nature, carrying no verifiable information. This fake news extends itself into the other publications, infects the other pieces on the same site, that contain real tangible information, and that value is diminished as a consequence of misidentifying propaganda as fake news. Giving credence to these conservative attitudes of incompetence on the part of the left, but moreover this incompetence discounts their information in that their information can then also be viewed as being propaganda. In other words, from a conservative point of view, those who publish this information can’t correctly identify information so we can discredit their information as being propaganda as well, somehow attacking what I know to be true, and the only thing conservatives know to be true is that the those on the left are wrong.
What these ultra conservatives are doing here is they have reduced information to propaganda, there is no difference between the two, for conservatives have no regard for real tangible information, only for furthering their own political views which largely consist of discrediting everything the left are about. Conservatives are campaigning against information and when a major news publication covers “fake news” they are losing the battle in upholding valuable verifiable information. That false recognition of propaganda for fake news discredits they’re credibility as a news organization and then reduces their news as nothing but their own propaganda. This latent hate now existing in the media must be called out. Otherwise, actual information will be robbed of its verifiable real meaning. Conservatives are weighing a battle against information and when a news site covers fake news as that, fake news, and not propaganda, they have successfully reduced the value of the information on those news sites – which then makes that information succumb to being held in the same esteem as propaganda. In order to champion information as something of value the left must point out how invaluable hateful propaganda in the media under the guise of fake news truly is.
